Course details

This course focuses on the role of individuals in community settings and people's homes, supporting people with disabilities to enhance their independence, self-reliance, community participation, and wellbeing. Workers apply a person-centred approach, contribute to individualised plans, and work independently. They may also supervise or coordinate small teams.

These individuals take responsibility for their own outputs within the scope of their job role and delegation. Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support.

These individuals are accountable for their own work within the scope of their role and delegated tasks. They possess a range of factual, technical, and procedural knowledge, along with some theoretical understanding of the concepts and practices needed to provide person-centred support.

IHNA Admission Requirements

  • 18 years of age and above at the time of commencement of the course* #
  • Successful completion of Year 12.

*Mature age students (22+) may also be considered without the minimum education requirements. Each case will be reviewed individually to ascertain the capacity of the applicant to meet course requirements.

#Students below 18 years of age should have consent from their parents prior to getting enrolment in any courses.

Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND)

All students are required to complete IHNA’s LLND test to ensure their readiness for the course and are encouraged to have basic computer skills to enhance their learning experience.
